Thank you to the Waconia Lions for help raising over $2500.00 to support our very own Waconia High School band program. Through the Lion’s annual calendar sale many of our students will see direct benefit through their “Charms” accounts. We look forward to having an even better calendar sale starting next fall!

This coming Thursday, February 20th there will be a “First Year Member Marching Band Meeting” at 6:00 PM in the WHS Band Room.
The purpose of this meeting will be to help inform and educate all of our new members’ families about all things Waconia HS Marching Band! Items to be addressed will include:
- Attendance Policies
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Our Trip to Chicago
- and MUCH more!

After completing successful 2013 marching band season the Waconia Marching Band found themselves facing a problem with their snare drums! It had become very clear that the snare drums would not make it through another marching band season. The intense utilization of the snare drums combined with the weather extremes of the summer season had taken a serious toll and the drums were starting to collapse. The cost associated with replacing the snare drums could negatively not only the Waconia Marching Band budget, but the overall budget of the Waconia Band program. It left the directors struggling with how best to fund their urgent need. Enter the Waconia Lions!
Band Directors John Pohland and Phil Synder presented their donation request at the regular Waconia Lions meeting on September 10th. After the presentation the Waconia Lions members discussed the request, the number of students involved with the Waconia Marching Band program, how the Waconia Marching Band was involved within the community, and how they represent all of the District 110. In the end, the decision for the Waconia Lions was a no brainer and they approved the $7,500 necessary to fully fund the replacement of the snare drums for the Waconia Marching Band!

Monday Memorial Day services Schedule
7:30 – Performing members arrive and get dressed at high school
7:50 – Busses Arrive
8:00 – Depart for St. Boni
8:20 – Warm up at St. Boni – grassy area outside of elementary school
9:00 – Performance in Elementary School Gym
9:35 – Cemetery performance 1
Colorguard and Dumline leave to Waconia to rehearse at Post Office band will meet them here once cemetery services are complete
10:15 – Cemetery Performance 2
10:35 – Depart for Waconia
11:00 – Parade in Waconia Starting at American Legion
11:15 – Service in the park
12:00ish – Load up and return to high school
Upon arrival at high school: Hang up uniform properly and enjoy the afternoon
In case of rain we will be performing the service in Waconia at Bayview Elementary School
Students need instrument/supplies, LONG black socks, black wicking t-shirt (or black regular t-shirt if rookie), Black marching shoes and gloves, memorial day music and lyre.
