Recap from 2017 Season
The 165 member Waconia Marching Band enjoyed a tremendous summer performing and sharing their show “Summertime” all throughout Minnesota and enjoyed outstanding performances in the International Lion’s Parade in Chicago, IL, a National Anthem Performance at both the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals games, as well as a memorable final parade on the 4th of July near St. Louis, MO.

During the 2015 summer, the Waconia High School Marching Band performed in 12 parades and events around Minnesota and also travled to Seattle WA over the 4th of July holiday. During the competitive season the band earned 4 Grand Championship titles, performed at a Minnesota Twins home game, and brought home a wealth of prizes, awards and accolades. The Waconia Marching Band would like to thank the Waconia Band Boosters, parents and the community for their never-ending support of our music program.
Lake Waconia Band Festival
Each year Waconia plays host to the Waconia Band Festival featuring 15 – 20 of the finest marching bands from around the region. This year’s festival will be held on the evening of Saturday June 20th. The Lake Waconia Band Festival partners with Harry Wenger Band Festival also held on the same day. Many bands opt to participate in both festivals!

The Waconia Marching Band’s 2014 show Entitled “Dia De Los Muertos” thrilled audiences around the state of Minnesota with its very unique and dark show featuring dancing skeletons and a Violin soloist that literally rose from the grave!

Competitively speaking the band ended its season earning first place in class AAA and overall “People’s Choice” at the Vikingland Band Festival in Alexandria MN. Throughout the season The Waconia Marching band also earned Grand Champion Sweepstakes at the Water Days Parade in Buffalo MN and the Rochesterfest Parade in Rochester MN. The band also had a chance to tour the Chicago area over the 4th of July Holiday and be a featured band at the Taste of Minnesota

The Waconia Marching Band’s 2013 show entitled “The Heist” entertained audiences throughout the summer performing and competing all over the state of Minnesota. The band concluded its competitive season finishing an impressive 1st place in class AAA at the 2013 Vikingland International Marching Band Festival in Alexandria MN.
The band also had the privilege of performing in Breckenridge Colorado. The Mountain town brought in a live audience of over 20.000 people for its annal 4th of July parade. The Black and Gold were such a hit they were asked to march the parade twice!
The Waconia High School Marching band is an award wining ensemble that has a proud tradition of excellence. The “Black and Gold” as they are often referred to as perform and compete in the 10 – 12 parades each summer in and around Minnesota. The 130 member band has also been featured all across the United States and Canada earning many 1st place and “Grand Champion” placements. Make sure that you cheer on the Black and Gold this summer at a parade near you!
